It was glitzy and glamorous – there were red ropes, doormen and expensive cars drawing up outside as I arrived out of breath clutching my iPhone running Google maps.

I regained my composure and went in, feeling glad I had put on a dress instead of the comfy trousers I had felt like wearing to an evening networking event.

As part of the Hague International Network, of which I am a long standing member, (http://thin.residentie.net/index.php?s=2&c=3) I was invited last night to a superb networking event in the new headquarters of the International Space Trade Association. Their trading name is Spherium and the centre offers very stylish conference rooms, high tech equipment and an “out of this world” atmosphere.

In addition to being the registered agent for Richard Branson’s galactic flights (it will soon be possible to get to Australia in a couple of hours), ISTA acts as the glue that binds together industry and education in the pursuit for space from the Netherlands. (http://www.istaspace.com).

As for the nitrogen chardonnay and yoghurt fried eggs, they were catering gimmicks, something more special and “space-like” than the usual loempia and bitterballen at these Hague events.

As soon as you judge communication a little more rigorously, there is a possibility that the message will not be democratized. I have to say what I believe to be right. I have to spread out the statement among all the means of expression available to us at present.
